This month, I present you my TOP 5 films of 2022. I love going to the cinema and watch amazing films. At least once a month I go to see a film. This year was, after an amazing 2021, a bit shallow so I had to cut this list down to 5 films. This year’s list features a wide spread of genres, and I hope next year around this time I have more good films for this list and I can bring it up to 10 again.

5 - Barbarian [7/10]
Starting out with a film I didn't watch in Cinema but one that gave me the chills, that only the best give. Barbarian tells a original story with building a lot of tension in the beginning and exploding in the end. Not a perfect film and this one making my TOP 5 is showing that this year wasn't an exciting one. But a really enjoyable horror film with good actors.

4 - Bullet Train [7/10]
Although this film didn't have too much noise around it, I still really enjoyed watching Brad Pitt and co beat up guys in a train. Watching this on a hot summer day in a chilled local Cinema was one of the best days of the year. I liked the look and jokes of the film, even if I felt it dragged on a bit too much in the end, still a solid film in a rocky movie year.

3 - The Batman [8/10]
Finally a film I would consider on the level of the top 2021 films. Robert Pattinson resurgence after Twilight has been incredible. Acting on a top Level in The Lighthouse as well as TENET, I was very hopeful for The Batman and I really loved this "new" or rather different approach to Christopher Nolas trilogy. Having this feel of a comic and even darker Batman was intense to watch and the Riddle as an antagonist was the perfect choice.

2 - Avatar 2: The Way of Water [8/10]
This was a close one. Not putting this revolutionary film on #1 was tough. The environmental message even makes the ones who didn't think too much about it before think. The 3D-VFX in this film was incredible and nothing I have seen before. The underwater scenes were amazing, although the changing of the FPS from 48 to 24 in different scenes had me thinking my GPU is lagging. This sets the new standard for visual effects and just shows once again that James Cameron is one of the most ambitions and best out there. But setting the breathtaking 3D effects aside the story and Characters were also very enjoyable and engaging, one of the films I am happy I watched in Cinema and I wouldn't want to miss this one the big screen.

1 - Everything Everywhere All at Once [8/10]
Probably the best film I watched this year, but it was a close one. I could have rated this 9 or even 10 out of 10. The idea of Multiverse has gotten more popular in recent years, and this film tells a unique story with an own spin on it. With a lot of humor and style Michelle Youh fights her way through the struggles of the Tax Paper. This film had a lot of lovely moments but fails to find a fitting end. Although there were a lot of different opportunities to end it perfectly, this film fails to seize them and rather chooses an ok and average end. It wasn't a bad ending either but for sure a missed opportunity bringing it down to a 8/10. To end this review on a positive note, I can highly recommend this film and enjoyed it as much as the first time when watching it again.
